Wall Street Dead aHead Drawings

Wall Street Dead aHead is a professional networking event that was held last night at Studio 36 in NYC.  It's a great opportunity to mingle, meet new people and listen to live music. My friend and Grateful Dead artist, Antonio Reonegro, who is well known to Dead fans, created artwork and graphics for the event. Check out his work at this link.

I made some very quick sketches in a small 6x8 Strathmore 400 Series pad and with my Pelican M205 yellow demonstrator. (Filled with Platinum Carbon Black ink.)

It was a very relaxed atmosphere with plenty of opportunities for conversation and drinks.
I had plenty of both!

The Band was called the "Deadbeats." They performed to a very enthusiastic crowd.

Special Deliveries!

When we send Parcel Post packages to friends during the holidays I like to decorate the front instead of using a mailing label. I hope the deliveries look fun for the little recipients!

Pentel brush pens (JetPens) and Blick colored pencils work really well on cardboard boxes. Stabilo Colored Marking pencils (from Blick) are excellent for white highlights. The Kum two size sharpener (from Jet Pens) is also very handy.

The Pentel Brush pens have terrific line variations and work smoothly even on the cheapest cardboard.

Sometimes I'll do a quick sketch before hand. This is a Rhodia Dot pad (from Goulet Pens) and a Ohto Comfort 2mm lead holder from Jet Pens. I love these little pencils! An inexpensive leadholder with click advancement, a sharpener on the top and awesome colors too. I also have a green one.

I try to obscure any previous mail info with something decorative. I turned the blacked out address into a present.

It's usually a hectic time of year, but it's always worth it to take the time to personalize something special.

My Delta!

I love my Delta Anni 70 Fountain. A treasured birthday gift from my kids; it's now out of stock at the Fountain Pen Hospital, but I did see an orange version on Goldspot. It a firm nib with no flex, but a smooth sketcher/writer with nice balance and a great resin body.

These are some quick sketches of World War I cavalry and artillery.
